My brother is 9 years old and he doesn't understand that he can't use my computer because it's mine. He think he can do whatever he wants. Any remedy out there?

he's your little brother... kick his ass and tell him if he does it again then he will be sorry.

This man understands the big brother/little brother relationship perfectly.

What OS are you running? If it's 2K/XP log out everytime that you leave. If it's not 2K/XP, you better only have 32 mb of ram and no room to upgrade because there is no other excuse for not running 2K/XP

Well if he is smart enough to play dead when your dad goes homicidle I think he should be able to use your computer. I mean come on, he just witnessed your parents death for christ sakes!

Let him use it. You don't want to be know as a selfish self-center elder sibling when you guys are all grown up, right??

Someday, you might need a favor and he can tell you where to go...

Build him a cheap crappy computer out of spare parts you may have laying around. Fill in whatever's missing with stuff from FS/T. Then he'll have his very own computer, and won't mess with yours. Minimal financial investment, and if it keeps him away from your expensive machine, it's well worth it.

Yeah, either log out or lock your computer.

Of course, you could just set up a special user account for him. When you get older, you'll probably feel bad about not letting him use it. I know I feel bad about all the crap I gave my little brother. In retrospect, I was just being petty.

what, and windows is the only viable operating system?

I say install Gentoo Linux and then he won't be able to figure out how to do anything.

Other than that, open it up and jank the power supply to the motherboard cable when you aren't using it.

Its like pulling the spark plug wires out of a car when you aren't driving it, it won't start and no theif will figure it out in time to get it going.

Short of that, I've found that ONE OF THESE will generally get any message worth getting across across. Now thats some mad sentence structure.

Hard drive molex is a little easier and less strain on your comp.

I can't give in because he has to understand that he can't do whatever he wants. So letting him use it is out of the question.

Get your own place and only visit the family on holidays.

Just create a non-admin account and let him use it. Seriously, what's he doing that's so bad?

If you really must lock him out, set a password on the BIOS. Unless he knows how to flash the CMOS, you should be fine.

Probably not a remedy, but pick up a keyswitch for the on switch, and Windows lock the computer when you walk away.

install mandrake, set to autoboot linux in 1 second, and leave it that way until youre done beating him, just in case he slips away during the bloodfest and touches your pc

then, when youre dont beating him, tie him by the ankles in front of your computer, just our of arms reach, and play girly pop songs for an hour

let him back on the ground, for 5 minutes, pwn him with a shovel, and hang him up again.

if this doesnt work youll have to sell him to someone who needs some very tough manual labor done
