my 98 boot up screen "hangs" freeeeeeeeeeeeze?

um...on friday night..i noticed...my comp BOOT SO SLOW.
but then somehow saturday nite...it BOOTS UP REALLY SLOw, but on the login screen IT freezes...now sunday....IT WONT EVEN BOOT UP NOW!!!!...only when it is in safe mode when it "acts" fine...what is the problem?
 
do you have a network card? is your card looking for a connection? if so that must be the problem, perhaps your network is experiencing some problems.
