I have a Gigabyte 8800GT, model GV-NX88T512HP, type A, which comes factory overclocked. I have it running at factory speeds on an Asus P5K-E with the PCI bus locked at 100Mhz. Only my CPU is overclocked.
I recently switched from Vista back to XP and once I start playing games, I notice that after about 30 min of hard gaming, my screen goes blank. My system is still running fine, but it's like my videocard just stopped working. This never happened in Vista.
I installed RivaTuner to monitor it, and noticed that when I play a 3D game, it auto overclocks more than the factory overclock. The core stays just about the same, only goes from 700 to 702. The memory goes from 1900 to 1918. But the big jump is the Shaders, which go from 1675 to 1728. The card maxes out around 70* C and is around 45*C idle.
I think what ever is causing this auto overclock might be responsible for the videocard crashing as I don't think the Shaders can handle going that high. Any thoughts on what might be doing this?
