Hope anyone could help me with this matter of mine regarding my card and this new game that i just bought (its old but had a chance to get it again) recently, its called American Conquest: Divided Nation, its a 2D war strategy game from cdv

Anyways my card is a 8800 GTX from BFG. The thing is it could run all the current high end games in max graphics settings, games like Company of Heroes and Medieval II total war, and well the card just wont run this old 2D game that i just bought.

i tried adjusting the settings in the control panel of the card but still i would always get crashes or hangups.

Hope to hear from someone soon. thanks

How old is it ? I doubt it's videocard related. You can run it in a windows 98 kind of environment by right clicking on the .exe file, but I don't know the ins and outs of that.

Dunno, I have a bunch of old games, even 3D accelerated games that just dont run in XP. Which is why I keep an old laptop with Win98. Check the web for know issues with that game and XP. Also, the box should list the requirements of the game.

hm well if it came out in 02 or 03 and was recently revised it should be designed for xp right?

sounds like a driver issue to me...here's what i'd do. download the latest drivers from nvidia (even if you have the latest), uninstall what you have, restart, install the one you just downloaded, restart, uninstall, restart, reinstall, restart. long process, but this will make completely sure that any bad data left behind by the old drivers (or if you have the newest ones coulda been a bad install that left a problem that only shows up on this game) will be gone.

if that doesn't work, put all of your hardware back at stock speeds then try it. never know man.

EDIT: actually, maybe you should do the second suggestion first lol.
