My 7950 is no more..Need some advice so close to new GPUs

So my 7950 bit the dust..My question is should I get an EVGA band aid 970 and step up to a Pascal 1080?...I use my PC regularly so I really need a fix asap..Does EVGAs step up work?..Will they accept a new 970 bought on Amazon as I have a $100 gift card, and not their site...From what I see they will

Check directly with EVGA about their step up program. A 970 is hardly a band aid.
