my 6800gt overclock/coolbits

Right now im 425/1.2 which plays games (ie, farcry) fine for as long as i can play them, and 3dmark03 with no artifacts or overheating. I'm going to push it more later, im still breaking it in and all . Temps get to about 74C then drops extremely fast back down to 60C idle.

Anyways, my coolbits doesnt save the overclock everytime i reboot, same with the AA/AF. Is this normal or can i fix this?

I may be getting a GT in the coming days (if I can't find an XT or Ultra). I have never owned an Nvidia card before. Do you have to use "cool bits"? Is this similar to the program I have heard about called "power strip"? Can you use "powerstrip" with Nvidia or only ATI?

I have never overclcocked before.... I am building a new system now that I want to tweak (first time build)

Coolbits is a registry setting that reveals a hidden tab in the driver control panel that allows you to easily adjust clock frequencies.

I was having problems with coolbits not saving my OC settings until I did it a specific way. Under Clock Frequencies...

1. check the box for apply settings at startup
2. adjust your core/mem sliders where you want them
3. click test settings, click ok on the popup box
4. click apply, click ok on the popup box
5. hit ok and exit

That worked for me like a charm. Hope it does for you, too!

Yeah, it seems like everybody is having the same troubles with cool bits. I guess it's from the 60. and over drivers that come with them. It saves the Core clock but not the memory. I', thinking maybe cool bits 2 fixes this.

I came back to post about it not saving mem settings and Regs beat me to it. I just noticed last night when I went in to check temps that my mem was back at default but the core was still where I set it. So much for the steps I mentioned above.

same for me...HAS to be in this order. If you click "Find Optimal Clock" button, it will not save, so just use it as a starting clock point, and adjust manually in specified order above.
