Okay I overclocked my AMD 3700+ San Diego to a very stable 2604GHz a 400Mhz increase from the stock 2.2GHz.
I am runnig 248 FSB/HTT a 10.5 CPu Multiplier and a 5:6 Ram ratio at 333 for an effective 200Mhz.

I ran Prime95's ImPlace large FTT's for 18 hours's at those settings.. here's a screenie of cpu-z and prime95 and everest.

The Cpu is a san diego chip the newer E6 one. Are they good overclockers? I have been unable to get this chip past 2604. Anything past that fails prime95 after 2-3 mins. I have the vcore at 1.45 and the 2.6 is running great. I had the vcore at 1.5 when I was running max cpu tests and it didn't help. It would always fail at 2669 or sligtly above.

Another thing that amazes me is how cool its running the whole time I ran prime95 I used SysTool to log the temp variations. Although I am using a Zalamn CNPS9500 and Arctic Silver.. idles at around 34-37 and before I ran prime95 a load of 40-46. But know its staying at 40-42. During my 18 hour test It leveled off at 40C which was surprising. since when I had my CPU at 2.5 it got to 48C load.

If anyone can give me some tips to get it faster than 2.6GHz stable Im all ears..

i'm currently running the same processor except for its an SH-E4....i've been at a stable 2715 with the vcore at 1.4 for a few days now and she is running at a cool 30-32 and hits around 40-42 at full load. Good luck with this chip its an awesome overclocker!!! i had it at 2805 for a few hours but not stable enough without a reboot

Mine does 2.75 stable. Booted up at 2.8, but failed 3dmark. Didnt try to stabalize it, just went back to 2.75gig.

Well I ran SuperPi and got in order from 1M/8M... 1M- 34s, 2M- 1m 22s, 4M- 2m 56s, 8M- 6m 11s.

What does superPi have to do with getting a higher OC? I thought it was meant more for stability?

Good speed with SP time under 35 sec. My overclocked Sempron 3100 will do 36.8 sec with 1.6Vcore (2.51GHz). It's Prime95 stable but I backed-off Vcore to 1.5 because I plan to keep the CPU for several years.

First thing I would do is test for the max by dropping the ram to 266 divider, make sure the HT multi is at 3x, bump the vcore to 1.55v.
Start with 235 x 11 = 2585 and start bumping up from there.

I've got one of the early E4's and I can get it stable at 2830, but I run it 24/7 at 2780

And from my experiences using the 1/2 cpu multi with memory dividers can cause strange results and problems. I would avoid the 1/2 multis

So after all this time which is preferred - the e6 or e4 stepping ?
