My 360 will be coming up on it's 3-year in Sept.

It's never had a problem, but I don't use it constantly.

I don't want it to fail in October. Is there anything I can do to make sure that if it's going to fail it happens August or earlier? Some sort of stress test.

Or do I just cross my fingers?

I would say I play it maybe 3-5 hours a week (not at all at least 1-2 weeks a month) and watch a Netfix movie on it maybe 2-3 times a month.

Is that sort of usage light enough to not worry about?

How much is it to extend the warranty? I'm in the same situation, I think mine is up in November.

That invites unethical replies, I hope there isn't someone dumb enough to be any more specific than I just was.

If it makes you feel better, but it won't help.

You'd hardly miss it.

If it RRoD before the 3yr date, RMA it. When you hit 3yrs, do the X-Clamp mod that is posted about here, or pay someone to do it for you.

Considering how much they've dropped in price I'd almost say forego the warranty and if it croaks find a cheap used Arcade console, preferable a Jasper model.

I think when you ask about a "stress test" you're asking us how you can force your Xbox 360 to fail.

This. Don't freaking defraud Microsoft.

Besides, I'm guessing that 3-year RROD warranty is going to be de-facto extended to as long as they make the console.

Yep... and go buy a cake like one of the first posters suggested.

when my warranty was up, and it RROD on me. I did the xclamp it costed me 9 dollars. well 14 if you add in the 2nd as5 tube I had to buy because I couldn't find the one I already have until after I bought the 2nd one. . my 2nd 360 I have till 2010 so I'll wait around before I mess with it. I had such good success with my xclamp and my cousins I just bought a broken 360 on ebay to play with it.

Extended warranties rarely pay off. If you're 360 hasn't suffered a RRoD by now, it probably won't anytime soon. However, you could always trade it in for a Jasper model if you're that worried about it.

I recommend play shit tons of dead rising. If it fails prior to the warranty, just be thankful you stumbled upon a game that prevented MS from fucking YOU over by having the thing inevitably crap out with no recourse.

3 years? You gotta take it out to dinner and a show!

OR... you could always just "bend the truth" and send it back claiming it was RRoD, they probably wouldn't question it since yours is so old.

edit: OR OR, you could simply play the hell out of it and see if it actually does RRoD!

is kinda bad get a 360 busted because getting a new one is not much of a novelty... and a PS3 is an awful piece of weirdness.... and waiting for the next console... yeah right next console.. hahahaha

Thanks for one of the only decent replies. I think I'll rent Dead Rising and let it play for a week straight.

I wasn't asking for anything illegal. It's just obvious that some of the early Xbox's are faulty, and since I don't use mine that much I want to make sure it's not one of them.

Don't defraud Microsoft?!?!? are you %^&*ing kidding me????

I'm trying not to get DEFRAUDED my Microsoft. I paid a lot of money for that %^ing box, a product that was released with known flaws.

Yes.... yes there is. I wont be more specific but just google around and see what people on other forums do.
