My 360 is pissing me off, shut down 3 times

Just need to rant;

Played 360 for a few hours today, and it decides to shut off on me 3 times within about 2 hours. Once I was in Texas Hold Em and won over 100K and shut down, didn't save in my bankroll.

I even have an intercooler, and the 360 isn't hot at all to the touch, so I don't see how it can be an overheating problem. It was made in April 06 so not first of the line, but I may have to exchange it...

Oh, I have a 2yr warranty from EBgames, but should I return it to EBgames first or to MS? I'm not sure if they (EB) would take a 360 with a new serial number, though I don't know how they would know.

So you bought the EB warranty for a different Xbox? Then you don't have a warranty with EB for this xbox, just one with Microsoft.

Unhook the intercooler and see how it does. They are known for drawing power away from the 360 and causing scorch marks on the rear.

I've heard, I just unhooked. I did notice no restarting/shut offs before intercooler was ever on, but it does make it cooler....

But anyway, I guess you guys don't understand my question about warranty. IF something happens and I do need a new 360, I have a 2yr warranty from EB, but also the standard 1yr from MS. Now, if I need a new one, should I take it to EB first, or to MS? (there are tradeoffs for each)

Is the EB warranty for the 360 you have? If so, take it there first.

But if unhooking the intercooler solves the problem, I'd be giving Nyko a call.

why not take it to EB games? You PAID extra for this warrenty and they should take care of you.
the wording in the OP makes it sound like he's thinking of using the warranty bought for a different xbox than the one with the problem.

No I didn' t mean that at all.

See, what I mean is I got the 360 April 06, and now w/ a 1 yr warranty, it's good till this April. Now, if something goes wrong, wouldn't it be better to use MS's warranty and still have my 2yr one as backup? I didn't know if that would work for EB then since it's a diff. serial number but I doubt that matters.

But then if I use my EB warranty (only good once), and that one messes up after a while, I wonder if the new one from EB will have a 1 yr warranty on it as well.

Does that make any sense?

I see, you mean if you go through MS instead of EB then the serial will no longer match what EB thinks it is. That sounds very plausible, so I would be worried about it in your shoes.

Are you sure that the 2-year EB warranty does not transfer to a replacement unit that they give you? That doesn't sound right, but I haven't seen the agreement.

I bought my 360 off of eBay, but I have the reciept for the 360 and warranty. I don't think it has a serial number on reciept but it's very possible.

And yes, warranties are transferable as long as you have reciepts, I emailed EB asking that before I got the 360
