I put together a system with a 300 gig Diamondmax SATA drive, but when I installed XP the partition program only recognized it as about 130 gig. I read somewhere that this is a known limitation.

In a possibly related issue, I notice that under the bios setting and also when I look under System, it seems to be recognized as a regular ATA drive, not a SATA drive. I'm not sure if this is a problem.

Also, when I look through the event log, I notice several series of disk errors cropping up at various spots. The pc seems to run fine though, except when I try to add SP2 (which I'm trying to figure out under a different topic.)

I don't know how to rememdy this situation. How can I made the drive show up properly? Any adivce? TIA!

(And sorry if there is a better category for this particular question...)

Thank you! Unfortunately this tool seemed to think that I was not running Windows XP, though I in fact am... but this points to a possible issue with my current version of XP. I need to buy a new copy of XP anyway, and so will see if it solves my problems.

But again, thank you kindly for the link. In an indirect sense it may have helped me quite a bit.
