RAM: 256 MB PC133 SDRAM (SimpleTech brand)
Motherboard: ABIT BX133-RAID

The RAM shows up as only 128 MB. The RAM is in fact a 256 MB stick.

This is a brand new stick of RAM and the package says 256 MB.
This stick has been tested on two other computers, both of which verify that the stick is 256 MB.

I tried clearing the CMOS. Still says 128 MB.
I reseated the RAM several times. After every time, the computer still sees only 128 MB.

The chipset 440BX probably can't detect the double sided memory and is only seeing one side of the stick.

I had a similiar problem on a PNY memory stick only seeing half the RAM.

A BIOS update may fix that.

Your 256MB is single side?
If yes, it's 8 x 256Mbit chips.
BX chipset only supports up to 128Mbit chips.
