I just got a Barton 2500 xp and for some reason its only reading at 910mhz when I go into dxdiag. I have the fsb set at 166 so I don't know whats wrong. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Go into your BIOS and check that it has the FSB set to 166 and the multiplier as 11 so that it's running at 1833Mhz.

Cool thanks it worked. Now if I want to over clock in the future to like 2000mhz do I just up the multiplyer a little? to like 13.0 or do I just change the fsb up 1mhz at a time?

both are options 🙂

what mobo are you using?

if it supports 200mhz fsb, and if you have pc3200 or faster ram then you should run both the ram and the fsb at 200mhz (which will turn your cpu into an xp3200+ and most of the xp2500+ cpu's have no problem running at that speed)

I got an Asus A7N8X deluxe but I am running the PC 2700 333 ram. It will support up to the 400 but not on my pc 2700 at this time.

I haven't chanced going any higher than a 183fsb on my 2500 yet. 😉 In time I may consider it, but that's enough OC for me.

My 2500+ is running at 200mhz FSB with no problem. FIne with the stock cooler, but I put an slk 900a on it just for the heck of it.

I would sugest that you sell your pc2700 RAM in the for sale/for trade forum, and then use that money to buy PC3200. This will give you an excellent overclock, and selling your pc2700 should be very easy.

I've been running 200mhz fsb for about 2 months with the 2500 and 1 gig crucial 2700 ram (2x512 dual) without any problems. Althought I have a different mobo than you do (msi k7n2 delta-l), you shouldn't have any problems doing the same with your asus. I actually thought about going to pc 3200 when I just added another stick a week ago, but couldn't justify the performance/price difference.

I just sold my 2700 and got 3200 crucial. Thats part of the reason i like buying crucial, it holds its resale value well. It only cost me 20$ to go from 2700 to 3200
