My 20WMGX2-BK is here; DVI not working

My NEC MultiSync 20WMGX2-BK is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. I just hope it arrives in one piece. I got in on the tail end of the mfg. rebate. I'll post my findings tomorrow.

Congrats. I'm really worried about mine. I ordered it, but I'm afraid it'll be too small. Thinking maybe I'll cancel the order and get a 2405FPW/2407WFP instead.

Really? I have a Mits Diamond Pro 2040u 22" (20" viewable) CRT right now and I find the size just just right for me @ 16x12, but all I do is websurfing (no gaming, watching movies). Will you be watching movies or gaming on it? I didn't really see a point in getting bigger in my case. Wanted to concentrate on PQ.

Well, UPS managed to ship it in one piece, but I cannot get DVI working at any res above 800x600. I'm not sure if the problem is my Radeon 8500 or the monitor/DVI-D cable.

I'm using the latest cat drivers. What's wrong with the 8500? It has DVI and I don't game so I see no need to spend money on a new vid card.

Even DVI/1680x1050@60 Hz? Sure you have input selection on the LCD right? What about correct maximum horizontal and vertical frequency ranges for your monitor? It does only go up to 60 Hz at 1680x1050.

Even DVI/1680x1050@60 Hz? Sure you have input selection on the LCD right? What about correct maximum horizontal and vertical frequency ranges for your monitor? It does only go up to 60 Hz at 1680x1050.

Yea, soon as I try DVI/1680x1050@60 Hz I lose signal (until it times out or I hit escape, at which point it goes back to 8x6 ).

I'm running at 1680x1050@60 on VGA right now.

And now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure it's not the ATI card, as a couple weeks ago I tested out the 8500s DVI port on a 19" CMV....worked fine.

19" LCDs are only 1280x1024 though. The 8500's TMDS transmitter may simply not be strong enough.

Yea, that's why I'm headed out right now. Gonna go grab a newer vid card and see if it helps.

Actually, I spoke too soon. Can't get a pic in DOS when on DVI, so I'm workin on that right now.
