So I recently got an onkyo ht-rc360 along with 5.1 speaker set up. Things were going great until lately when the signal started skipping out every 5-6seconds. No video signal makes it to the TV at all, and just the audio plays. I bypassed the AVR to check the cable and the box and the video and audio worked fine coming out of the TV. I assume then the issue is the AVR. I am having trouble finding info online about this and I was hoping you all could help. The signal is running on HDMI..Any other info let me know. Thanks.

What did Onkyo say about the issue?

Haven't had a chance to contact them yet..Just noticed it happen yesterday on a consistent basis. It happened 1-2 times before, but it went away. Now my video won't show at all along with that audio signal disturbance.

What is your source? And does this happen with every source?

It's from the HD DVR. I am going to try my ps3 next to see if that will work. I also turned on my other TV in the bedroom which is a regular HD box, and that worked fine. Not using an AVR with it, but I could at least eliminate that it was the cable company. I will search the Onkyo website more today, but I am almost certain it's the AVR. I checked all the connections..everything seems to be securely in place.

It could be a compatibility issue with your AVR and DVR, which is not surprising. I use a component connection (video) with optical (audio) for my DVR so I can avoid any HDMI compatibility issues. All other sources are HDMI.

But why would it work fine for a month and then just not work all of a sudden?

Onkyo is known for their hot running hdmi board, make sure you have plenty of room above your receiver for the heat to escape. just google "onkyo hdmi board" you will see plenty of people are having issues with it. good luck, I will never buy anything made by Onkyo again.

I suggest you simply call Onkyo.

Have you tested your PS3 yet?

Just tested Ps3. Works fine.

Will need to call Onkyo tomorrow...And in reply to an earlier response, yes there is enough room for the heat to escape the AVr there is nothing on it and the room itself isn't overly hot. Maybe the most likely thing is the cable company sent a software update to the HD DVR and now there is some compatibility issues.

If your PS3 works fine, I think you can just about rule out your receiver. Onkyo can't do anything about compatibility with your DVR. I would just use component cables for your DVR with optical or RCA cables for your audio. Much more reliable configuration.

My DVR (U-verse) is connected directly to my other TV via HDMI and I also have picture and audio sync issues every once and awhile. I'd use the component connections for it, but it's being used by another source. :(

So can I have optical & component going out from the DVR into the AVR, and then have the HDMI ouput going to my TV.. or is that not going to work?

Yep, that's how I have mine setup. It avoids the whole DVR compatibility issue without sacrificing PQ or AQ.

Ok cool I will have to try that. Not sure what to set the input as on my remote since before it was as easy as DVR/BD/Game etcc..I don't see a button that says "Component" on my remote but Im sure I will figure it out.
