My 1st PC Build

Looks good to me. When you build it though, there will likely be Ivy Bridge CPUs/mobos, as well as custom 680's, so watch for those.

I use the same set of RAM and have had no clearance issues. Low profile RAM might help because the height can cause an issue as far as clearance to CPU heatsink, but not that specific one you chose. Something to keep in mind.

PSU Good but unnecessarily expensive unless you're aiming for the quietest rig possible (which you aren't, not without a silent case); also if you're intending to run only single GPU, 550W would be enough, whereas 750W would be better for SLI. E.g. XFX 550W $50 AR or XFX 750W XXX $100 AR (also made by Seasonic)
CPU Good
SSD Cheap but... Crucial M4 is more reliable and not that expensive
RAM Agree with azeem. E.g. G.Skill Sniper 1600 $40 AP
HDD Good
ODD Good, I suppose
 
The general thought process is good.

Since you're not building until this summer, you'd be better off checking back at that time. Specific part recommendations will have changed, both due to new parts coming out and new sales.

If it were me, I wouldn't buy a GTX680 for $500. I find spending $250 now and $250 in a year or two gives me a solid gaming experience now, and a better gaming experience in the future. Just my opinion.

Good catch, didn't realize he was building it that late. Come back in about a week before you want it built, we'll see what's available and at what price

I agree with lehtv and DSF. "Summer" is way too far out to be planning specific parts. You've got the general idea of what's good though.
