I have an ABIT KT7A RAID mobo and read that its stable at 133mhz FSB so I though, what the heck, I cant really kill it, so lets go try this baby out. I have a 1.2ghz athlon, which must be unlocked (cause I didnt do it, LOL) and I went into the Bios and changed my multiplier from x12 to x9 to get 133mhz FSB. I picked up a good 15FPS in my games, and shotened my load times. My tbird was of the 200fsb variety but I guess I just made it a 266fsb in all reality, cause I didnt change the speed of the processor at all, essentially keeping the cpu running at the same temp right??? Let me know if this is a true OC job or whatever, and what are some other things I can test to make sure i did it right and all? Thanks for the input, and just picking up the FPS that I did, makes me feel great!!

You overclocked the bus, but the CPU is operating at it's rated frequency. Now that you have attained the 133 FSB mark, start upping your multiplier. Your 1.2 gig should go higher, some people are getting them to ~1.3+.

So if the CPU is opperating at its rated frequency still, which it is, then it will run at the same temperature right? I am not really into OCing, I am VERY INEXPERIENCED person at this. I dont really want to try OCing it though, cause I dont know if there is any Arctic Silver on there, or anything like that, and I have a FOP32 too. Just the heatsink and fan. I didnt put the CPU together either, I bought it from an online company (united micro). But didnt I essentially make this rig a 266fsb tbird by doing that? Thanks!

It should run at the same temperature.

As for whether or not your heatsink is applied properly, it wouldn't hurt to take it off & find out.

And yes, you made it a 266 TBird. Not physically, of course, but the end result is the same.

set the chip back to 12 x 100 and reset the bios reboot and go back to the bios...it will auto detect whether it is cas222 or cas333...note even if it detects as cas333 many times you can run it at cas222 or cas322

Well, I think i may have found it, in the BIOS the only thing I could find was it said SDRAM Cycle Lenght, 3, and it had the option to turn it to 2. Thanks again for the info and help guys, its appreciated!
