save the 35 bucks :)

i don't think the performance difference between a 2.1 ghz cpu and 2.2 ghz cpu is huge...

'look mom, i can load windows a whole .02 seconds faster!!!'

yes

however, newegg isn't guaranteeing 'b's though...

you might have to get it from excaliber if you want a guaranteed B

the only 1700+ b i got from newegg turned out to be a 0251 jiuCb (c's aren't as good as H's)

most JIUHB's are hitting over 2.0 ghz. They are topping out around 2.1 to 2.2 ghz... not bad from the stock 1.47

Kingston HyperX PC3000 Memory, 2x 256MB
AMD Athlon XP Thoroughbred B 1700+
Epox 8RDA+ Retail

What do you get when you add these together? A FF bios effed up error and an RMA to New Egg. DAMNIT!

Here's my results so far:
166x11 OK
182 x 11 No Post
175 x 11 No Post
166 x 12 OK
166 x 12.5 OK
170 x 11 No Post (tried several voltages, very relaxed timings)
168 x 10.5 OK
170 x 10 No post

:( This is HyperX PC3000, 2x256. Edit: I'm doing something wrong. When I set SDRAM CAS Latency to Auto, it works at higher speeds (posts anyhow) I must be showing my ignorance :) I'll keep tinkering.

up your vcore and your vdimm (no more than 2.77)

try 11 x 185 (2-3-3-7) ....

and see if that works...

I'm not sure what I fixed, other than setting the ram to manual and 2-3-3-7.

185 x 12 (2220) 2-3-3-7, running Prime95 but it is late :) gonna start some serious tweaking tomorrow ...

good luck to you...

be sure to do what i said in the PM.... it might help

on that note.. my pc3200 ram is coming in today... i dunno if anyone has been following the hot deal forum but ebay has a reseller selling winbond memory for dirt cheap... hopefully it'll be here today to see 2 things:

1. if my ram is limited by the mobo (vdd voltage)
2. if it's my hyperX ram that won't let me hit 200 mhz

okay

later! - time for class :(

OK Shimm I'm finding the sweet spot. As I said in the other thread, I think I was going for FSB first and CPU speed second. Now that I've reversed course, my last 5 minute prime95 passed at 177x12.5 (2215), once I upped it to 1.75Volts, 2-3-3-7. Time to reel it in now :) I don't think I can get much more FSB but I'm sure I can get better timings...gonna try 179-180 @ 1.8 though...
