my 10XDVD(retail box) can only read DVD, not CD!how come?

But the manual said this toy can read 32xCD. No matter under Win98se or Linux(RH7.2), it can only read DVD, no way for CDrom. Any one familiar with CD/DVD can give me some suggestions? Thanks alot.

btw. this company locates at the same town as me. their tech support team is warm-hearted, but their suggestions didn't work.
