My 1-allotted game plug

DigDog

Lifer
i realized i didn't use my yearly allowed video game plug, so here it is:

Reflex
http://www.reflexfps.net/forums/

Arena Shooter, high skillcap FPS.

essentially a Quake 3 + CPMA clone, down to the same guns, same physics, same movement ... but better.
it's now found on Steam, and although it's early access (wait, don't run) it is fully playable, has players on always, and the progress is moving fast. Also, the development team is that kind which codes in a change and IT WORKS, rather than having to patch it 4-5 times before it's functional.

other good things about reflex, the netcode is the best i have played on (it's a joy to play), the community is quite friendly, it has a free, built in map editor, you can run your own server..

on Steam for ten bucks.

some negatives .. it's not easy. most players are either quake or CPMA veterans, so the learning curve is pretty steep. it's still a small community so your initial choice of gamemodes is limited.

now that my primary game has been completely shafted by the new development team (that would be Blacklight and HardsuitLabs, respectively) this is what i play, along with less-and-less QuakeLive.

Demonstrative Duel (1v1) video here
(this is with the old textures, but it's still worth watching for the presence of Dreamhack's own Vo0)
