my 1.7+ Athlon XP booting as a 1.1 on my ECS K7S5A

I have an ECS K7S5A posting a 1700+ Athlon XP CPU at 1.1Ghz. I am sure a bios update will correct the problem. However, I was just wondering, is the cpu actually operating at 1.1Ghz or is it operating at the 1700 speed but just displaying wrong? Thanks for your help.

Sounds like your CPU is being multiplied by 100mhz instead of 133mhz. Change the FSB to 133mhz and your CPU should be recognized correctly.

Damn, beat me to it.

After putting in a SECOND 1.2 Tbird (i killed the first), it was showing as like 900MHz, and knowing my BIOS well, i immediately knew the problem. It was that damn 133/133 setting....

I like this board (K7S5A). Have you tried overclocking with it???
