MXM - The future of desktop video card?

This makes the chipset upgradibilty of desktop video cards sounds really possible. What dya guys think?

Not too bad, seems as though they are pushing to use GPU's like CPU's. That's a good thing in my book.

It could replace the lower end of the Desktop segment aswell as provide SLI for Laptops. It'd be interesting to see if they try and turn the MXM into a IGP Solution too.

it would hardly cost any less than a regular card to begin with. the only thing missing from the MXM module is the power circuitry and the ultimate output circuitry.

how well can you mount a heatsink on that?

edit: the way they're talking it seems like MSI has used two 6600 go chips. don't exactly sound like barn-burners.
