I just bought this wireless mx700 mouse for gaming and the batteries die only after 10 hours of use from being fully charged. Seems like a waste of money for this mouse.
 
How in the world are you using it for 10 hours without stopping? Don't you need to eat or go to the bathroom?
 
You only get 10 hours out of it? I get at least 30 out of mine or more, I don't time myself but the batteries last for a week or so and I am on the pc for at least 5 hours a day with around 4 of them being spent gaming.... there abouts, though it depends on the week, thats just on a boring week where I skip school lol. But 10 hours seems low.
 
I still have my old corded mouse for these situations.
I usually charge mine once every 3-4 days. I stay on the computer for over 10 hours a day too.
 
I have the same mouse, buy higher capacity batteries... buy only high quality though. I've had my mouse 16 mos. nary a problem. The only complaint I have is that , I ground(wore) the mouse foot pads off in the back

I have not had this problem... there have been days where I gamed all day, forgot to charge the mouse, and gamed the next day.

NiMH batteries are like little muscles, they take a few charge/discharge cycles before their nominal capacity is achieved and if they're not used and fed for long periods, they lose their capacity (atrophy 😀) . The MX700 batteries seem to be a bit inconsistent, and sometimes the base is to blame for poor charges. The MX700 is rated for batteries with capacities of between 1600 and 1900mAH. Look around for batteries with as close to 1900mAH true capacity as possible for the best results (I prefer the Maha batts also good for digicams).
 
Heh, if you got money to burn, you can get 2 mx700 mice and keep one on the base charged, and just rotate them.


but then again... if you are on th PC more than 10hrs a day, I think there may be bigger problems to worry about than cordless mice batteries. 😀
 
I just got a MX Duo myself, and 10 hours is about what I get from the mouse too.

I got the US MX Duo, but I live in Europe. So I haven't yet hooked up the power cord for the base (still don't have a suitable adapter) and currently I don't use the base to charge the mouse. What I do is charge the NiMH batteries in a separate charger and when the batteries run empty I just replace them.

I think that if you use the mouse further away from the base then it'll eat up more battery power. Same if the line of sight between the mouse and the base is obstructed. Again.. this is only how I imagine it is - seems logical for it to need more juice for larger distances.

BTW - it's strange you couldn't find NiMH batteries - I think they're the most common now.

Also - someone mentioned that the batteries should be 1900MAh - but it is okay to use 2100MAh right? 🙂
 
Yes definately you can use 2100's no problem
My base charger doesnt work properly so I've got 3 sets of batteries and a battery charger , I just swap them as needed. They last 3-5 days, depending on how much quake I play.
 
My batteries seem to last around 4 days before even getting to the red light stage. I dont game much with my mouse but I do surf and the like quite a bit. Plus, the mouse idles for a good 8 hours per day.
 
mooojojojo, that's right, 2100 works fine (I have a couple in my MX700). In reality the 2100 batts put out closer to 1900mAH 🙂

u funny sob. even walmart has em. walmart/radioshack etc. heck, if you get the rayovac ic-3 15 minute charge ones most anywhere, u will have no reason to worry at all. unless 15 minutes is too much time for ya. course ic-3 batts would charge regular speed inside the mouse though, but its always good to have a 2nd set just in case anyways. what kind of moron only depends on one set of batteries for something anyways? heck, most any NIHM will do. even cheap brands like no-mem that you can get at frys for cheap are 2000mah rated. i think the ones that camewith the logitech are only 1600mah or something.

its one thing to complain about battery use when they aren't removable, but when they are, and a standard size/type to boot, wtf are you talking about. previous gen mice had AA and AAA rechargables too, but you actually had to take em out and charge em yourself if you wanted to use rechargables. is charnging a battery in a consumer device with a tooless door like heart surgery or something? how do you survive when your remote control goes dead? logitech just got rid of that step and made the mouse a recharger, a big step up. and its a good thing they didn't go for some nonstandard battery type either.

ok, i'll stop being mean now, but apparenlty you don't even have a charger. you might as well jujmp and get the rayovac ic-3. its the only 15 minute charger out there, and only ic-3 batteries can charge at that rate. takes charging from something you have to plan, to something done at the last momment. it actively cools and the batteries have some kind of monitoring capability or whatever that lets em get away with that charge rate. since your apparently new to this kinda stuff, might as well get something decent. the total cost over the lifetime of batteries is really really low. slaughters alkalines. only reason to use alkalines is for emergency flashlights since recharables lose about 1% a day.

Wait.. there is a low-battery light on the mouse? I haven't read the manual yet, so I don't know. 😉 But if there is - cool! Currently I wait for the mouse to start acting up - then I replace. 🙂

thats how lower report rate/resolution wireless work. my 3 older logitechs last for quite a while with just a set of AAA. no charger included ...cuz battery changing rather infrequent.

I get a red light and a little popup telling me my batteries are low. Thats how I know when to go to sleep 🙂
 
mine last for several days as well (maybe like a week at most), and i use it about 6 hours a day. i use energizer nimh batteries that are 2100 mah, i have a spare set waiting on a charger, so i just rotate when the main set die. the system works great for me.

the odd day of the month i could easily use my mouse for 10 hours straight

that's why the mx-500/ mx-510 are better 🙂
cordless sucks

(anyone who knows me knows I am anti-cordless)
