My Logitech MX700 mouse seems to have a mind of its own. The scroll wheel seems to be intermittently scrolling on it?s own. It seems to be scrolling down by itself, and I usually see it in web browsers. It happens in both Firefox, and IE. Also in FPS games like Soldiers of Fortune, the weapons change on their own, because of the scrolling.

Is their a known problem with this mouse? Or are Logitech products just crap. I had an Logitech cordless desktop elite mouse crapped out on me in less than a year. Should I go with Microsoft Mice instead?

I?ve tried downloading their latest mouseware and desktop software, but I still have the same problem.

For reference, I?m using Win2K Pro and the PS2 connector. If I use USB connector, do I just plug it in the USB and reboot? For some reason, I can?t get the mouse to respond when I do that. If it makes any difference, I have the MX Duo.

i've had wierd problems like that in the past and what relieves the psycho session is if i press down on the wheel. perhaps that may work for you too.

Settings -> Control Panel -> Mouse -> Pointer Options -> Uncheck "Snap to" and "Enhance Pointer Precision" ;)

My mx700 is a couple years old and has started drifting on it's own... The scroll wheel isn't causing any problems though.

Like I said. Replace the rechargable batteries. Sounds like they are bad.

my first mx700 started doing something similar.

the scroll wheel would not function properly. it would work sometimes, sometimes not.

other times it would scroll down ONLY by itself.

i called up logitech to replace it since it wasnt that old.
