MX700 problems

When I use my MX700 (even to operate normal Windows XP Pro) the mouse stops in the middle every other second. I don't know what is causing this behavior, but I just checked for spyware on the system yesterday, and the keyboard doesn't seem to be having the same problem, so it's definitely a problem with the mouse. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

edit: I just tried playing music on the system, and it is also choppy. This choppiness is in synchronisation with the choppiness of the mouse. I checked the system yesterday with Ad-Aware, and didn't find anything big. I just searched a second time, and nothing big was found either. Just finished scanning with Spybot S&D, and going to restart the system if it alleviate the problem. BBIAB with an update.

it's a mouse problem.. that mouse is notorious for problems.

I've used this mouse for well over 2 years now, and never had any problems, nor have I heard of any. What the hell are you talking about?

Agreed.

It sounds like it's a system problem. Have you tried running msconfig to see what's loading on startup?
