Basically the same mouse... one is 800DPI, the other is 400-1600DPI. Matters if you need variable DPI or not. If not, 510 is cheaper.

I would say the MX518. It's a ~$10 difference for adjustable DPI, which is a godsend in FPS. If anyone hasn't told you, having adjustable sensitivity (DPI) becomes infinitely useful in games like CSS, where you can roll down the sens. for sniping and throw it back up for normal combat.

I don't know exactly how adjustable sensitivity helps in gaming, but it's great for Photoshop. ;)

The MX 518 is a great mouse - if you can afford it, get it.

It depends on cost, but the 518 is a better mouse overall just due to the adjustable dpi feature, if you want or need it, grab the 518, otherwise just save the money and get the 510.

At least for CS and CSS I know having adjustable DPI is not necessary because you can set a lower sensitivity for when you are zoomed in with a scoped weapon separately. I forget the command, cl_zoom something, I think.

This is the problem I'm having...stores around me sell only MX510 for $39.99($45 after tax), but the MX518 I can only get online, after tax and shipping on ncix it will be $83...:(

So it sucks for me, I need to find a place that sells it around me.
