mx500 mouse cursor moving when the mouse itself isnt???

i have the logi mx500 on USB, no mouseware installed. The cursor moves by itself sometimes even though its not being touched or anything making it move. The optical sensor and mouse pad looks clean. Would it make a difference if the pad had funky designs on it?
 
So you have funky designs? or you wonder if that would help?

Try a neutral surface - like the back of a cloth hard cover book
See if your cord isn't moving the mouse and install the drivers - no good? get it replaced.
