MX500 light stays on?

Hi, I just got an MX500, and it works great. However, the light on the bottom does not go off, even when I turn the computer off. I have to physically turn of power (unplug it, or flip the swith on the PSU, etc.) I remember hearing someone else report the same problem, but I couldn't find it. Anyone have any ideas? I did not install the drivers that came with it.

could it be something with your BIOS settings??

i'm using this mouse as well and i don't have any of the problems that you have mentioned..

you might also want to install the latest drivers to see if it helps.. if it doesn't and you prefer to not have any drivers, then just uninstall it after... worth a shot though.

This is normal. Its not a problem.

Many motherboards will continue to supply power to USB or PS/2 ports, even after being shutdown, they supply power via the +5v Standby line that your power supply provides.

Most motherboards do this to support "Wake on Keyboard" or "Wake on Mouse" features. Meaning you can hit a key on the keyboard or click the mouse to turn the computer on. Some motherboards will have a jumper that lets you completely disable the feature, some will not. If yours doesn't have a jumper, then you 'll ethier have to unplug the mouse to turn it off or just live with it. Messing with drivers isn't going to do anything.

Its not going to hurt anything by leaving the mouse on 24/7. LED lights, such as the one in your mouse, have a life span of about 25-30 years if left on continously. So your mouse isn't going to burn out anytime soon 😀

Thanks. I installed the drivers and the light went off when I shut down the comp, but the drivers messed the buttons all up :disgust: So I uninstalled the drivers, guess I'm just gonna have to live with the light on.
