mx300 and windows ME....not compatible?

I have an MX300 sound card and it doesn't seem to work with windows ME. anyone care to help me out?

it should work, windows ME should be compatible with most hardware out there. Problems with winME is with some of the softwares. So i have not upgraded to winME for that reason. Make sure you don't have a conflicting IRQ, and you properly installed your drivers.

i installed the drivers properly. I am having some IRQ conflict...but it's more of a DMA conflict. I tried out the PC512 and that works fine. It's just the mx300. It freezes whenever i click on somethign when music is playing.

Which drivers are you using? Diamond didn't do much in the way of keeping upto date drivers for the MX300. Try using the Aureal Vortex 2 build 2048 drivers, should be able to DL them at www.vortexofsound.com. I'm using an SQ2500 (which isn't to much different from an MX300) under WinME without a single problem

I've had to disable the SB Pro EMulation (for DOS?) to get my MX-300 to work.

Do you have an ATi video card?

i'm running both ME and the mx300...no problems. i would suggest using the aureal drivers instead of the diamond ones, like origen said. the diamond drivers were giving me a hard time back with windows 98, when i first installed the mx300. but i upped it to the aureal ones back then, and still using 'em. too bad they went under...*sigh*

I had the same problem I had to put the cd back in and at the install don't accept the DOS and install everything eles.

Use the reference drivers from Aureal. They are a little less sophisticated on the software side, but they are a heck of alot more stable than the Diamond drivers... Update!!! Go here... Vortex Reference Drivers
