Can you use it without installing the bloatware that comes with it? I'm using WinXP and have tried it using PS2 and USB and it will not work. I have not installed the software.

"There is no need to install the drivers on Windows XP, although you might want to if you'd like to assign additional functions to the special buttons. ..utilize the basic drivers for the mouse, and kill any open Logitech bloat running in the background. Of course some of the mouse buttons don't work, like the scroll wheel tilt switches and the application switch, but I truly don't need either of those. All of the other buttons function just fine..."

Did you switch it on? And pressed the connect buttons on the receiver and the mouse?

Also don't forget to make sure it is charged up,my guess is the switch on the base is probably in the off position.
