So since I've upgraded to vista quite a while ago, my screensaver has always been dodgy. It starts up probably about 1/3rd of the time. After doing some googling, it looked like this is a common issue with certain wireless mice and keyboards. I tried unplugging my mouse and my screensaver came up everytime. Plugged in the mouse, doesn't come up.

I'm using the setpoint software.

I dont have any problems with G7 mouse setpoint and Vista. If the mouse is faulty and under warranty I would call logitech they have replace my mice a few times.

No problems with Setpoint + G7 + XP Pro 32

Actually, I have a computer running an MX1000 on Vista 32 Home Premium.....no screensaver problems, setpoint is installed. I downloaded it from Logitech's website.

There a new setpoint 4.72 seem to be a good release just uninstall old version and reboot before using.

And, if you have a LCD monitor, a screensaver serves no useful purpose except possibly for entertainment.

A running screensaver on a LCD uses just as much of the backlight that regular display does. LCDs do not burn in images. The best thing you can do for a LCD is turn it off when not using it.

OK - some LCDs do get "persistence" - but usually it is not permanent. You are still burning up life in the backlight. So, the best fix is to have power management turn the LCD off after a specified number of minutes. That is way better than a screen saver, and is controlled the same way.

LCD

Been using LCDs for over 4 years now - never seen any "persistence." It may relate to LCD quality. :)

yup but screensaver or auto standby still requires the idling detection to work.. so either way...

I've had image persistance on both LCD's i've owned, Dell 2001FP IPS-S, and my Soyo PVA.. maybe TN ones doesn't get them? ;)

I didn't get it until I left the same image on for a good part of the day.
now it comes on pretty quickly.

My CRTs, on the other hand, never had burn in.
