Has anyone had luck with using the MX1000 combined with something other than the provided base/charger for RF connectivity? I have seen on other forums that the mini-usb dongle provided in the Logitech MediaPlay mouse works perfectly with the MX1000. This would make the base/charger only need for charging...which would be great. I am wondering if this is the only alternative to the base for this mouse.
The reason I ask is because I would like a more portable solution than having to drag the big bulky base around with me. I love the feel of the MX1000 and as a programmer the extra button functionality is great for those long days.
One additional comment. Since this method may be unreliable with using a different RF dongle, should I just opt for the Bluetooth version of the 1000 included in the mx5000 combo package or the DiNovo? Those sets include a dongle, replicating what I am trying to accomplish. Since I won't be using the keyboard with my business laptop (my reason for wanting a wireless mouse) its hard for me to justify the huge cost increase simply to get the portability... but getting the dongle from the MediaPlay or otherwise won't be cheap either.:disgust:
