this game is really good!

the graphics arent a HUGE leap from the last mx vs atv game, but they are pretty damn good in any case. the terrain deformation in excellent, and the rider lean control is awesome. this game finally simulates dirt bike riding, but its 'arcadey' enough to be a lot of fun (not constantly wiping out)

so far it seems like theres plenty of tracks and variety in the challenges. i havent even tried the trucks or buggys yet. definitely though, for $20, this is kick ass!

i cant really tell yet how deep the game goes, but this is vastly better then the first mx vs atv. that game pretty much was garbage, and this game is extremely well polished.

i havent even tried anything outside a dirtbike yet... but so far each level is very different and there are lots of actually fun challenges.

ok this game is fun but one GLARING problem. each freeride level has you finding 3 hidden flags as a REQUIREMENT to beat that level. the flags are silver, VERY small, and pretty much impossible to find. this completely stalls the progress on the gameplay and turns what should be a 20 min level into hours and hours of just riding around looking for shit thats not there.

extremely frustrating. even if i use youtube videos to show me where things are at they are still hard as shit to find.

im very close to just enabling cheats. sad. at least the freestyle events were a lot of fun, great atmosphere.

I had considered getting this game. What controls do you play with? I can't imagine a keyboard and mouse? I think I have an old logitech joystick somewhere and maybe an even older usb game controller. Would i even be worth it without new peripherals?

you play with a wireless xbox controller. there is no better controller. its completely plug n play too. you dont even have to have the controller on and connected when you start the game... just start the game and find the controller when convenient.

the triggers are gas and brake. x and b are reset to track. right analog joystick is rider lean and tricks. left top trigger button is like a "shift" key to enable the tricks (hold left top button, user rider lean to do tricks)

left analog stick is of course steering. the controls are great, that is not a problem at all.

i just gotta say... FREESTYLE mode pretty much ruins the chance youll ever beat this game.

each freestyle course you gotta find 3 hidden blue flags, as part of the mission. its pure luck to find these things, you cant see them for shit. you have to win based on luck, and i absolutely HATE that in skill-based games.

other then that, this game is awesome. lots of tracks, lots of varying degrees of difficulty. the truck/sport buggy levels are lame too, but overall this game is really good. ive been having lots of fun with it.
