MX 510 making a high pitched noise

Okay, so I sold my razer viper to a coworker and got an mx510 (I prefer putting the sensitivity of the mouse really low and I use the extra buttons). I have the mouse plugged into the ps/2 port right now and am using ps2rate to jack it up to 200Hz. Well, the mouse makes this high pitched noise that is a lot more noticeable when I am scrolling fast that is driving me nuts! I moved to USB and the noise is still there. I thought I was going crazy until I held the mouse up to my ear and it was there!

Am I the only one getting this? I love the mosue but the noise is going to kill me soon and I will have to find an alternative! I may even go back to the viper or the mx700 I had before that 🙁.

Sounds like you`ve a faulty mouse to me,I would get a new replacement, but try it in a different PC first to see if you get the same problem ,btw don`t bother with PS2 just use USB ,make sure you use latest MX510 drivers from Logitech`s website.

Yeah, use the USB port and install the latest Logitech drivers. Also, turn off ps2rate completely (maybe uninstall if it runs at boot) and see if that helps. Upping the Hz to 200 might have fried something, I dunno.

actually, make sure you have do not use that standard cable from your cd/dvd rom which plugs into your soundcard. Instead use a spdif from your cd/dvd player to your soundcard. if you use that standard cable it will make your mx510 have a wierd pitched sound.

my mouse had the same problem, till I switched those two cables. LOL. go figure.

edit... i use usb though... but try that.
