Factory Supercharged Miata

The Yusho (Japanese for "victory") is a red-hot edition of the MX-5, fitted with a supercharged and intercooled 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and beefed-up six-speed manual gearbox with sports clutch. Output has been boosted to 237 horsepower, with torque climbing to 202 pound-feet. Mazda did not provide 0-60 acceleration figures, but said top speed is 149 mph.

Engine mods include Cosworth pistons and conrods, a reprogrammed ECU, new fuel injectors and a custom exhaust system with sport metal catalysts and twin tailpipes.

The MX-5 Yusho features an uprated suspension with Bilstein shocks, Eibach lowering springs and larger stabilizer bars. The car rides on anthracite gray 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes R888 tires.
Changes to the body are subtle, limited mainly to the addition of a modest deck-lid spoiler and a carbon-fiber rear diffuser. Not so subtle is the handsome matte-white exterior paint scheme.

The cabin sports Recaro buckets in leather and Alcantara, as well as a suede-trimmed steering wheel and dash.

Question of the Day : If the Yusho was available for 30k MSRP (w/ all the below), would you buy it over the BRZ? :hmm:

- Supercharged I4 2.0 with sports clutch (237 bhp / 202 lbft)
- Cosworth pistons & conrods
- Bilstein shocks, Eiback lowering springs, larger stabilizer bar
- 17-inch alloys on Toyo Proxes R888
- Recaro bucket seats in Leather & Alcantara

I wonder how conservatively tuned it is, i.e. with a remap/tune, could it break 250 hp? I know it's just a concept - but still...

What I found interesting were the words "Flyin Miata" in the engine bay... Didn't realise they had a factory connection.

cool.. they used aftermarket tuning company on their mazdaspeed miata back in 2004'ish time. this doesn' surprise me at all. I wish they would have went turbo though considering they sound like they beefed up the internals this time vs just strapping on a FI setup

FM kit is rated for 240whp, so its around 280hp at the crank... and that is safe on factory internals, even when racing (see: Targa Miata).

You know a company is super-legit when the factory concept car has that equipment on it.

Also, hell yes I would take it over the BRZ/FRS! Lighter, more power, better driver connectedness? Yes please!

Yes. Convertible is a plus for me (ups the fun factor) and handles better. Add in more power? Why not!
