Hey guys. So my MX 1000 has been acting up lately. It's always scrolling up and down constantly and its getting reeeeaaaaaaaaally annoying........... I've d/led the latest driver and i've unplugged it and replugged it in. still doesnt work.............. Any suggestions?

I hear logitech is real good with warrantying stuff. I had a problem with the scroll button stop working and called them. After 15 minutes of talking I got really annoed with them and said I'd just deal with it.

They wanted me to install old drivers and do all this unnecessary stuff when it was a hardware problem.
Give them a call and see what they say.

I hope that you have better luck with the new one than I did. The RMA that they sent me acted exactly the same way as the old one. The only way that it would work properly is if I used a totally white sheet of paper for a mouse pad. Apparently they thought that was good enough, because they refused to do anything else.

The entire advantage that is claimed for laser mice is that they are supposed to be less picky than a regular optical mouse...THEY ARE NOT...at least not the two that I have. Why should anyone want to pay the price of a lazer mouse, when they have to run around with a piece of paper to use it?

EDIT: Perhaps I should mention that I also had a MI laser mouse that acted the same way, so it's not just Logitech's sensor involved.

😛 kind of ironic since one of the selling points of the mx1000 is that it functions better on a wider range of surfaces then a standard optical mouse. That said, I have had a MX1000 for about a year now and haven't had any problems with it at all no matter what surface I use it on. Maybe they have released a newer revision?

ya. i found this on the net:

Be sure to get an MX1000 with an LZC5xxxx serial number though. You can make sure before buying (if you're not buying online) by looking at the box, you can see the underside of the mouse through the packaging.

If there aren't any LZC5xxx mice in the shop, you can always call up logitech and get a replacement, say that it doesn't work properly on USB, if they suggest simply to use PS/2 instead, say you're connecting it to a laptop and it doesn't have a PS/2 port. They will then issue a replacement mouse.

so... everyone with a MX1000, CHECK THE NUMBER!!! lol

im probably gonna sell my replacement and get a G5
