I already got 2 X2 3800's ordered last night, and confirmed to be shipped today. I see they are already OOS.

From what I had heard, the 4400+ and the 4800+ are being discontinued. However this is only what I have heard on here, and nothing official.

Also if this is the case, and with the combined factor that the extra L2 cache takes up more die space, this could be a reason for the sustained cost.

I think people should hit ebay, and see if they can pick up good deals on the good stepping dual core Opterons, as the people that own them, will no doubt go and look for a Conroe setup.

I really want to get my hands on a 4400. I'll be scouring the FS/T ads, just for that one extra MB of cache.

Check ebay, I've already seen some new and used 4400's go for too cheap, some lucky ah heck got a brand new OEM version for $150 a couple of days ago

If anyone is living in the good ol Bay Area, California you can pick up a Socket 939 X2 4400 for $245.95 here. The store has prices very close to newegg on a lot of stuff. Note, they also ship, but the return/RMA policy and tax may turn off many of you. Fortunately, I live a few miles away, but I've had the processor for a while now

Mwave X2 prices

mWAVE is currently OOS of all of the above but TD has the 4800 for $309 + shipping. Should I bite on this? Tempting...

I would wait to see what you can get with a conroe for 300, my bet is that you can get one and do more with it and see better performance.

Well I'm looking to upgrade to an x2 dual core (see my AMD rig). No I wouldn't buy it if it was for a new build.

Im sooooooo glad I didnt upgrade to dual-core yet lol. Killer prices. How can you beat a dual-core x2 for $150. That means used chips should be going for around $100-$130 around forums. I cant wait.

The reality hasn't set in quite yet on teh fs/t forums. People were still trying to get 180-200 for used X2 3800s. Poor guys.

Is it smart to wait until next month or September or should I just go ahead and order one now. I know they will be around until December and no telling if discount deals will be offered btw then...I just don't want to do something rash. I want the X2 4600.
