These notebooks are all the rage over at notebookforums.com, yet when I come here there is not even a single mention of the notebook itself. For those that don't know, you can configure a CL56 notebook with 1GB ram, DVD burner, 2GHZ mobile P4, ATI Radeon 9700, basically the works for under $1500 shipped to your door. I'll put up a link to the notebook itself. Let me know what you guys think. If the screen was widescreen i'd be all over it......

Yea, a widescreen with 9800 would be sweet and I wouldn't mind paying some extra as well.

Didn't mean to say Mobile P4, Pentium M is the processor. So it's the Centrino platform, sorry for the confusion. Click the link for more details. Based on the reviews this laptop doesn't get very hot at all after continuous usage, has great battery life, excellent keyboard, and amazing performance. Only downsides are the lack of a widescreen LCD, and its mundane looks. But at its price you can't complain.

Yeah, that model Compal laptop is also sold by www.powernotebooks.com too; I bought 1 about 8 months ago. It's a pretty darn nice laptop and my 2.0 is darn fast and it also folds like a mofo with no problems overheating.

I don't know how mwave's support is like, but I haven't had to use any tech support at all with mine yet. Great little laptop for a decent price.

The Compal CL56 is considered a great laptop by most.

It's just a little plain. It doesn't really "wow!" anywhere. Above average build quality/performance/battery life/heat/portability at a great price.

But get the powernotebooks.com model (PowerPro 5:6).

I was probably going to get one before silverpig recommended the Sager 3790 (Widescreen display).
