mwahahaha I pulled a fast one on my cable company

z0mb13

Lifer
so I called just now to tell them I was thinking of cancelling my cable internet to switch to the cheaper 19.99 dsl..

so the person told me is there anything we can do to make you stay? I said yeah try to make my bill cheaper...

they cant lower my cable internet since its already on a special plan for 6 months (about $26 per month), but what they did is they lowered my tv cable by 10 a month for a year..

Im thinking of calling in a couple of days and still switch to dsl.. bwahahahha

😀😀

You should've at least called and threated to cancel and requested they lower someone else's bill, who will still have cable.

My neighbors somehow get free cable and when they went to order cable internet, they thought they were going lose their cable, but they didn't... lucky them...

i have a friend like that, who got two free tv cable lines. when they called to get internet, they lost one of them, but honestly, who's complaining.

They raised rates for internet and I emailed saying if tey don't lower me back to the original, I'll jump to DSL. They lowered it back, but only for three months. Once the three months is up DSL is going to find themselves a new customer.

Yeah, I lost my free cable when I signed up with Road Runner. 🙁

duhhh.. shoudlve went with dsl instead

well I had cable thru comcast was 3mb but went to DSL thru SBC ...
ADSL0 is up , protocol is up
Description : SBC DSL
Encapsulation : ADSL
Bandwidth: 6.02 Mbit

I LIKE IT and best of all no sharing the line.. of course YMMV I'm a <100 feet from the fiber remote on my block.

cable and DSL are virtually the same to me. Cable jacks up the rates and then tries to draw me with "more bandwidth" when frankly either of them is more than enough to keep me happy.

downgraded from the 6.02 M to the SBC 1.5/384 for 20$/month. Miss the 6M speed 🙁 but I still get 608 upload. 😀

Well, speaking as a Verizon DSL customer on the east coast, it's not really any better than cable. Most of my friends are all on cable, they do a lot of online gaming, ventrilo, etc.

Verizon has a decent ISP news service, and no download caps like the local cable co does, but their ISP services have been on a serious decline for the last six months. DSL going down, authentication server errors, e-mail going down, their current issue with blanket international e-mail server blacklisting, no clear way to get whitelisted, raising their prices, attempting to lock people into yearly contracts instead of monthly billing, and the fact that you have to pay for overpriced POTS service just to get DSL in the first place. In this state, a basic POTS line costs double, half of that being taxes and fees. We still have to pay $0.97/mo just for touch-tone service. :|

As far as the *physical* underlying DSL line/POTS line, that's been fine though, VADI does decent work, but the Verizon Online folks are a joke when it comes to keeping ISP services up and running properly. Oh how I miss MediaOne. 🙁

cable is definitely better than DSL in my experience. of course, there are people here who have disagreed with me, but i wouldn't do it. $120 savings is a good deal. maybe in a year, you should reconsider.
