Since I started crunching on my HD 4870 (~1 mth ago?) I noticed recently that I'd just squeaked past you on RAC, at this rate it would take roughly 500 days to pass you! lol.

However, my output might climb a little now ;).

Got anything in reserve? :D

LoL. Am I still crunching MW@H? I guess so, it's running on an HD 4850 in my Q9300 rig. I do have a nearly-identical rig, that should be in my closet (at least I HOPE that's where it is), with another HD 4850, but that one's not running right now.

Gimme a wave in your rear-view when you pass me. :)

Lol, you didn't know you were crunching? ;) Yep, & 48xxs seem to do fairly well.
Hit a snag with MW this end, my 'new' 5850 is erroring a load of MW 1.02 WUs, looking in the MW forum it seems to be a bug :(. Fortunately their are enough WUs from the other MW apps to keep me going.

Thx Gleem :)

I might be able to muster up some more firepower. My biggest problem now is lack of physical space, which is too bad, since my electric is now included in rent.

Isn't 12C about 53F?

That's motorcycle weather.

Yes & yes ;), I meant your weather was chilly, ours has been very mild, just very wet & windy :p

So what was the coldest temp you saw? (w/out wind chill).

Lucky git! ;), although my rent includes electricity I pay extra for running my PC 24/7, seeing as it's well over typical usage & my landlady is also a friend. I would of bought a 5870 if electricity was no concern, as they are only £20-25 more, but it would of cost me slightly more juice to run than my 4870 whereas my 5850 will save (I estimate based on GPU crunching only 6mths of the year) £30/yr on elec! As well as being ~75% faster, and hopefully I'll get ~£30 for the 4870 :).
Ideally I would of got a 6950 (would use roughly similar amount to my 4870, again only 6mths/yr GPU crunching) but that was quite a lot more expensive (£100-£120) and I just can't afford to spend that atm.

Oh btw, no SLI mbrds? ;)

Hmm. Took both 7790 1GB cards out of my Thuban rig and put the GTX460 2GB card back in. Now that GPU is apparently capable of participating in the PrimeGrid race, it pulled a Stallion WU.

I put one of the 7790 cards into an i3-3240 rig. I couldn't get it to work with MW@H (Detected as unsupported R600 GPU, which I don't think is correct). So it's running Einstein@H.

Still having problems with not recovering from monitor sleep mode with the 7790s though. Anyone have any ideas? Fresh Win7 64-bit HP SP1 install, BOINC 7.2.33 (newest) and Cat 13.12 WHQL (newest).

On the bike? I accidentally rode to work one day when it was 33°F. My thermometer in the kitchen lied to me. About 1/2 mile out of town I thought I was going to die. Fortunately it's only about 7 miles to work.

During this cold spell? I think it was -12 or -15 w/o wind chill (not sure).

-15F, hmm that means nothing to me, 1 sec...... -26C, brrr!

Back on topic, Larry you've got a bit of respite, I'm OCing/tweaking a 'new' CPU I've bought, so no crunching atm.
Turns out this E0 Q9550 I've bought is actually a slightly worse overclocker than my C1 stepping! (just my luck). So I'll be swapping it back & then on with crunching :), oh & the E0 will be a good upgrade for my sons rig which a has dual core atm.

I'm briefly done with stability testing, turned out the E0 stepping quad I bought o/ced slightly worse than my C1! :(
And then to add to that, voltages that were stable with this CPU a couple of weeks ago aren't now! wth?? Anyway after much testing (& lost crunching time :() I found that CPU PLL had to go up .02 to 1.56v

Anyhow, what I'm saying is until my next round of tweaking (for higher FSB) I'm at full steam ahead :D.

Seems like Icecold is going to blast away, just checked out his rigs stats at he's got a 6900 card, even the 6950 is ~20% faster than my 5850 .

I wonder how much my card would o/c? ;)

Yeah, it's a 6950. I had the machine setup for the Primegrid race and figured I'd crunch some Milkyway on it before I power it down. It's not in a good place in the house to run full time, but I could maybe make room for it by moving some other machines around. Either way, I don't plan on running it very long on Milkyway, so I may pass you but you'll surely pass me soon after. I was hoping to pickup a 7950 or 7970 on the cheap as new cards were released, but then Litecoin mining drove the price through the roof so that's not happening any time soon.

I do have 2 4890's sitting here unused that do surprisingly well on Milkyway, Collatz, etc. considering you can pick them up used for $50 or so but I'm sure they use a ton of power. I don't game much at all anymore but I had them setup in crossfire maybe a year or more ago and they ran BF3 pretty well at 1080p considering their age. It's always nice to see old cheap tech that still has decent performance.

Also, I've seen you post on the Milkway forums about issues with WU's erroring out, and you can add me to the list of people that if I select Milkyway@home 1.02 WU's they run for about 3 seconds and then give computation error. I have been running the Milkyway@Home Separation (Modified Fit) tasks instead without issue, but it's unnerving to me that I have to do that. I even switched operating systems, tried several different catalyst drivers, etc. with no resolution. I do not have any issues on primegrid or any other DC project as far as I can tell with it.

Hi, good to hear from ya :)

Last thing 1st, yea & it's pretty poor we haven't heard back from any MW guys.
Which drivers did you try?

Even my 4870 had decent output in MW, tempted to put it in my 2nd rig ;).

What is litecoin? I'm vaguely familiar with bitcoin, but not litecoin.
How much did 7950 prices go up by?

Hmm, my MW@H cruncher isn't running right now. That might not last long though.

I was trying to get a hold of a couple more single-slot 4850 cards, for my quad-gpu cruncher, but that fell through. (One of my friend's cards died, and he tossed it.)

What's happened to your cruncher?

Btw fancy posting some WU times to my benchmark thread? :)

Btw if you're looking at buying a 2nd hand card then you'd be better off getting 1 HD 5850 than 2 4850s, the 5850 will be slightly faster (see my benchmark thread ;)) & use far less power. 1 5850 uses just 20-25w more than 1 4850 under load.
