I have a T1 here as well.

Too bad 1000 people use it.

On one collision domain.

"Weee.. bit quicker"

Hmm.. only a few k more a second right?

You know what sucks? I love when I get the chance to use a 56k modem because it is a HUGE upgrade over my phone lines which only support 28.8

vi,

Hey, I'm curious as to how much your (well, the company's) costs were for that--both initial start-up costs and monthly. Also, how did you justify that much bandwidth for 25 people? Does the company really require that fat a pipe or do they just have deep pockets? :D

25 people on a T1 really isn't excessive bandwidth per person, it's only 60 kilobits per person, or just over the speed of a 56K modem is everyone was downloading simultaneously.

True, but that's not a likely scenario.

And if 25 users is about 56K per person, how does Qwest get away with one T1 for 1000 people? LOL, if being used simultaneously that would be 1.5K per person.

AFAIK there is only one T1 coming in for our internet connection here. There are 1000+ PC's on one bloated 10baseT network that is made of cascading hubs - Not even switches, this is one lard-ass collision domain.

It can be BAD.

We have multiple T1s here but they cover the phones and computers for about 800 people.

How much is a T1/month? Assuming you're within 5 miles of the CO? Just curious.
