Mutt Lange: Man Behind the Music

I've watched VH1 behind the music from time to time and the name Mutt Lange pops up now and again. Involved with AC/DC, Huey Lewis and the News (wrote: "Do you believe in love&quot, Def Lepard, Shania Twain, Britney Spears, Bryan Adams etc. All the way back to 1970's.

Today I learned that he wrote "Breathless" performed by The Corrs. Very private fellow from what I read but obviously very talented. He is (was?) also married to Shania Twain. Admire those who don't run to the spotlight.

He produced all the old AC/DC albums (the good ones), The Cars "Heartbeat City", Def Leppard's "Pyromania" and "Hysteria" and Shania's (they're still hitched) breakthru albums.

He is a notorious perfectionist who will spend literally years on a record. The results speak for themselves, but it's hell on some bands.

Some think he's too "perfect' (read: contrived), but if you don't like it, there's always crap like Steve Albini to balance the karma.

I think his name appears on maybe 20% of the cds/records I own. The stuff he produces is the stuff I download AND buy.
