Went in to buy a new laptop for my wife for her house search/buying trip to GA/SC. She picked out a nice Asus ultrabook....she liked the slim form factor. Then she convinced me, like it took some work, to buy a new laptop for myself. I've been trying to work with a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, but I really hate it. Slow, can't really do any work with it. Makes a good credit card reader, tho. So, I settled on an Asus ROG-branded laptop. Decent i7 processor and Nvidia gpu.

Salesman goes to get them out of the back and returns with the "tickets" for the laptops and some other dude. Turns out the guy was the store manager, who proceeds to shake both our hands and thank us for our purchase and is there anything else he can do for us?

In all the years I've shopped MicroCenter, and I think I've hit every single one on the East Coast outside of NY, I've never had a store manager come over to thank me for anything---and I've spent more before in a single visit than what we spent on these laptops.

So, can only figure it was a slow day at Boston's MC. Just found it odd.

Might be the economy. Glad to see paying customers.

I know I'm glad for every order that I see on my job these days.

MicroCenter does this anytime you buy a lappy, tablet, etc.

Been there about 10 times to buy lappys or workstations, always packed wall to wall, have to shake the managers hand and get a card every time.

Yeah I've had that happen a couple of times as well, can't say that I mind it though. They respect that you chose to buy from their store as opposed to another store or online.

We bought several laptops and tablets over the years there, and I recall that someone came out to thank us almost every time (although I am not sure if it was the store manager). MC treats us well, especially when it comes to customer services and returns. I like doing business with them even if it's sometimes more expensive than online.

I bought a crappy little Dell and the manager came out to thank me, it was a corporate card I used. I really like our Microcenter, and try and support it when I can (Saint Louis).

Probably because laptops are most used by business professionals. It's called networking. The other kind.

Thx for the clarification, guys. In all the years I've shopped MC, I'd never purchased a single complete computer, desk or laptop. Only tons of parts.

Sounds like maybe someone could deserve a nice letter to their superiors? just a friendly little gesture, from a personal email account thanking him (through them) again for thanking you :)

Our MC store manager lives right across the street from us so I just go over and bitch if anything's wrong. :)

I've always been happy with the service we've had from MicroCenter. The Boston store is the only one I've ever been to.

Only ever bought one system them for a client and the same thing happened. Maybe it's like car dealers, they get bonuses for the number of systems sold.

The sales folks in the Boston MC have always been extremely nice when I have visited.
