Mustang V6 with aftermarket exhaust, lol

So on the way back from lunch, I end up behind one of the newer model Ford Mustangs at a stop light. Looked like a 2007 or 2008 model. I like the new Mustangs and I always look for the GT badge and the dual exhaust to see if it's one of the quick ones. Well this one was a v6 model as evidenced by the single exhaust pipe.

As I pull up closer I hear a bit of a burble because I had my window cracked and it was coming from the V6 stang. So I was intrigued thinking maybe he had a V8 under the hood and the single exhaust for camouflage. So the light goes green and he starts accelerating. That's when the car started making an awful noise. It was definitely a V6 and it sounded like he put an aftermarket high flow exhaust on it. It sounded kind of like a small dog growling and I don't if it was because there wasn't enough back pressure on the exhaust but it sounded like it was sputtering a bit or maybe trying to back fire. What a terrible sound. I also noticed then that he had stuck a 4.0 badge on the trunk lid and his license plate said B4D WOLF. Lol.

I'm sorry but the V6 Mustang is not performance machine and trying to make it into one but putting the wrong exhaust on it and some badges and tint just makes you look ridiculous.

B4D WOLF you fail.

lol dumb asses although I am not much better with dual exhaust on my V6 Camaro. ;)

Anyways, the V6 Mustangs, Camaros, and any other performance based V6 car are suppose to look nice with enough performance to move faster than some other slower cars. They are not supposed to be going up against V8 cars.

Muffler delete

Now that you mention it, that's kinda what it sounded like. Like maybe he cut a big ass hole in the exhaust pipe right before the muffler. At first I figured it was just an aftermarket muffler. He was driving it like a tard too. Making little swervy moves as he drove. Or maybe that was just effed up alignment, hehe.

Nothing sounds worse than the V6 motors used in fourth-gen Camaros. I had a roommate with a 3.8L and dual flowmaster 40-series exhaust. Sounded HORRIBLE and he loved revving the hell out of it.

Performance parts on a non-performance engine = fail.

I love the fact that my Fusion is nice and quick for when I need it, but I would NEVER swap out the mufflers (or buy an entire catback setup, as some do for $600+...), put on a "C"AI, or any of that junk. It's false advertising, and just makes you look like an idiot.

Decide if you want your car to be fast or economical (both in price and fuel consumption). Pick one and stick with it, or buy a second car.

Flowmasters on those cars sound like crap. I've heard a few 3.8L f-bodies that sound decent enough. The one was cammed though so that made quite a difference. Pretty quick too for a 6.

I have a 3.8L Camaro but stock. Exhaust is slowly rusting out on me so I'm gonna replace it with something better flowing but not flowmaster. There are only a couple that sound halfway decent on a 3.8 and flowmaster isn't one of them. Been taking my time researching exhausts and listening to sound clips and all that.

I'm planning on going turbo eventually with it, should make it more fun and pretty respectable in performance (though for a stock 6 it can scoot pretty well as it is).

Girl I work with is dating a guy with a V6 mustang (2002 model, I believe) that is incredibly loud in a terrible way. Its as loud as a 600hp Supercharged 07 GT one of our other co-workers has but it just sounds like metal grinding and the prat drives it like he's a F1 driver trying to win the championship.

I have seen stuff like that. What I found kinda cool was that a guy had taken a V6 mustang and given it a dual exhaust. I wonder what sort of performance he could expect with a dyno tune.

Another mustang I saw had a single exhaust pipe (2005+) with those C-pillar extractor vents (that don't work btw, they act as open up windows). So the guy had spent money modding his shitty V6 mustang. Meanwhile, some rich bitch will smoke him in her V8 stang.

when i had my 99 gmc sonoma with the 4.3L v6. I had an flowmasters delta 40 series muffler for it. it sounds pretty good for what it was. Had a nice rumble for a v6

It should, it's a 350 with two cylinders lopped off :)

IIRC, there are some minor balancing issues earlier on with the design (before the revision w/balance shaft in the early 90s), but overall it's a solid sixer.

Oh wait the car wont even let you rev it past 2000rpm in park/neutral....

Ecoboost Mustangs will finally make a value oriented performer out of it ... I don't know why people buy these shitty 10 year old + engine "2010 brand new Mustangs".

it's sad that a v6 honda accord can dust the older V6 mustangs. looking forward to the newer v6 mustangs with the ecoboost though.

Ecoboost not found. Ecoboost is on the Lincolns and SHO. Ecoboost = turbo.

The new Mustang is a NA 3.7L V6 producing over 300hp. Good enough for me, considering it outguns the '10 GT :)

What do you think would compel a person to buy a 2010 Mustang given what a huge evolution the 2011 will be? Perhaps dealers will start giving them away and I could see getting a 2010 GT just so you have the V8 sound even if it's no faster than the 2011 (and probably worse on gas), but still.

Have to be a lot older Mustang to get "dusted"...a current gen 210HP V6 Mustang with a manual will hit 60 in about 6.5 seconds. Only about 1 second off for a much older design. Not bad at all for an old pushrod motor that's 58hp short and in a heavier vehicle.
