Mustang V6 - the computer advances timing with higher octane

DI reduces knocking given the same fuel octane rating. FACT.

That's not the same as changing the burn properties of the fuel.

DI helps by optimizing the injection point, providing better spray, avoiding the fuel charge "pre heating" in the manifold, etc, but the actual properties of the gasoline don't change.

This has been well known in all the mustangs calling for less than premium fuel since about 2008...however, the base types (GT, V6) only got this feature in 2010.

In the GT's it's worth 10 ft-lbs of torque in the midrange of the engine. I'd imagine the V6 probably 75% of that at BEST.

You are talking less than 3% RWHP to get taxed at the pump every time.

In the 'old days' you'd just advance your timing a degree for 2-5HP a notch (if you were lucky)
