I like Bassani a lot better then Flowmaster for the Fords.

arent they a hell of a lot more too?
You get what you pay for

I had fitting problems with every flowmaster kit I ever put on. The Bassani exhausts always fit so nice, and the kit on the 95 Lightning in my sig was just awesome, everything fit in the stock hangers great and was able to do a side exit like the new lightnings.

whats a good price for the bassanis....what I saw was around 500 is that right? i can get the flowmasters for 150

Geez, complaining about $500 for an exhaust? I think my cat-back would have been $550+ had I not found a deal and that's for a single pipe/muffler.

What exhaust do you have? You know how the importers like to "stick it" to american buyers 😛

Tanabe (made in Japan) on my Honda😛

I thought Millennium sold his Mustang

He was/did, but he has more knowledge about the mods to the 2v 4.6 than anyone else here I believe.

Ahh. Well, I can't argue with that....then again I'm car-stupid.

yeah me too

I've always preferred Borla exhaust over Bassani, Flowmaster, or Dynomax. At least on the pushrod motors anyway...

🙂

I have a Flowmaster on my import... I like the sound but it's a turbo car so it wouldn't sound anywhere near the same on the 4.6L V8 of a GT. It sounds very growly... My Flowmaster is a 3" inlet/ dual 2.5" outlet dealy... custom built catback by prolly the best exhaust guys in Jerzey, Mufflex Performance. Gonna finish off the turboback prolly next year...

I do think I should have gone with the Magnaflow though since I have a turbo... less backpressure... a right amount of backpressure helps an NA car though. I run autoX with a guy that owns a 01 GT... I think he has a Steeda/Magnaflow exhaust... sounds awesome and throaty. He threw in a chip and he's making around ~260rwhp and ~270rwtq with some other stuff.

I haven't paid much attention to 4.6 mods since 01, but when I stopped modding I always liked Offroad H-pipes by MAC or BBK. I also like Flows or Dynomaxes for the mufflers. You can get fairly decent gains out of pullies and exhaust, and then you can do 3.73 or 4.10 gears. Gears are great for the 4.6 because it likes to rev.

I did a pully, chip, exhaust, gears, full suspension, etc before I ever went to nitrous and Sean Hyland. I still have my Mustang, but I am just now finally getting it back for good. Hopefully I can sell it, because my priorities have changed and I just don't care about a car being too fast anymore. I am pretty content with my Audi A4.

Keep in mind that a full catback exhaust from some of those companies out there may cost significantly more than your local muffler shop $150 flows because the catback systems usually have mandrel bent pipes from the cat on. Mandrel benders are very expensive, but offer the same radius of the pipe throughout the whole bend, and hence less restrictions.

A MAC/BBK system isn't too expensive, and the quality, fitting, and lack of leaks are worth the price. I don't want a system held together by jb weld.

I'd say upgrading to 3.73 gears will make the most difference per $. I have those and few other mods in my old 89 5.0l and if feels as fast as my dad's stock 02 GT. It probably isn't but those gears really liven things up.
