Concept / Idea

Not unlike the "Celebrities" of today, why can't I use my minor online celebrity (read: infamy), to raise money for a charity in a utterly ridiculous and asinine way? In all honesty, I couldn't get Celebrity Fear Factor to return my calls.
What I am going to do

Ok, starting January 1st 2005, I am going to allow my beard and hair to grow, 100% unchecked, with no trimming at all. None, nada, no trimming or cutting, of either beard or hair, for ONE (1) entire year, yes until December 31st 2005 at midnight, I cannot trim or cut my beard or hair at all.

Sounds too easy? Well sure growing hair is pretty much a talent most people have, and growing it long is also no big feat, right? Well let's take into consideration the following; Hair grows at a rate of 1/2 inch per month, some faster, some slower. Mine happens to fall into the faster column, but thankfully not by much. Next I am married, and not to a mustache lover, then of course there is the sometimes unbearable first two weeks of itching, and then you get into the stray/wild hairs that grow uncooperatively into the side of your mouth poking you sharply in the lip for two weeks until it is long enough to start growing downwards away from the poor, abused lip. Let us not forget the fact that right around June, I will have a full beard, and head of hair, making for those wonderful extra sweaty summer days and Oh... those sum-mer nigh-heights. Then of course there is the food in your beard, I swear to all things holy the damn thing is a magnet for soup and cereal milk... sigh or maybe it is my ineptness with a spoon (there is no spoon).

All in all growing a beard and your hair long may be a simple task, but it is not without it's drawbacks. In any case it is a pretty fun way to raise money, and will be a real test of mental fortitude for me (I'm a chronic re arranger).
What Charity is this for?

I am trying to raise money for The Neighborhood House, they help low income and homeless families financially and by distributing food boxes. They helped my family 4 years ago, and I feel the need to give back.

Additionally I have offered to re-develop their web-site for free, no response as of yet.
What's your monetary goal?

I want to raise $100,000(usd), but I would feel successful and happy if I were to raise even a 1/4 of that. I don't think it is that hard to raise $100,000(usd), I think it would really help them continue to fund their programs./Q]
