consider:
walkman: fell apart after a while
first mp3 player: 3 months use, had to be RMA'ed twice, never really got it working after that.
second mp3 player: remote got caught in bike spokes, player was nearly useless without remote
third mp3 player: dropped it on tiles several times, and concrete a few more times. magesium casing is beat up, the back panel needs gluing to stay together (still works though, I've only had it a few months)
first blackberry: fell of my bike and onto some pavement. my elbow and BB took all the damage. Screen plastic was cracked, backside badly scratched, a few parts needed gluing
second blackberry: accidentally scratched the screen, dropped it on concrete (plastics are now dented). Just dropped it on some tiles a few hours ago (no damage from that)
my digital camera has been an exception, but other than that, I just don't have much luck with electronics. I dunno how the people in FS/FT manage to keep theirs so intact.
