At one my old pizza places, we'd often have deals for people that ordered > 10 pies. At the very least, we'd take off 1-2 pies and throw in a tray of garlic knots (approx 80).

If they were a repeat customer, we'd take off a couple of pies and throw in knots and 2-liters.

Chains normally will not do this. Mom&Pop places certainly will.

If you don't use a coupon, the place will be willing to work with you and either throw in extras, discount pies, or both. More than likely, you'll make out better than you would had you used a coupon.

You want to pay the full menu price up until you finalize the order. At that time, that's when you ask them what they can do for you.

If you use one of their coupons (for example $1 off every pie), they're not going to work with you at all.

If you go into the order paying full menu price, they are much, much, much more willing to work with you on discounts. So while you may pay full menu price for a couple of the pizzas, they'll probably wind up discounting entire pizzas, throwing in extras, etc. So this way, you wind up coming out ahead.

Maybe because I've discounted people's orders in the past in this exact way, it's painfully obvious to me as to what he's getting at.

I think it was Donatos that gave us the best deal, but I have NO idea what it was, any more. We ordered something like 100 personal-sized pizzas, and only had to pay for the price of 40 of them, if I recall correctly.

i have the same. dominos, papa johns and local places gave me good discounts (one was a 40% off and like 8 free 2 liters and sides). the only one that would not was Pizza hut.

but blincowhatever is right. do not use coupons and such and ask for a discount since you are buying in bulk (but not radator size)

A $2 tip is generous here, it's a Dutch colony type town, and I'd say about 50% of my deliveries have either NO tip or change (ie pizza is 15.47, I get the 53 cents)

1.) Duh. I usually get an idea of what I want to say before calling anyone.

2.) Maybe for large chains. The "local" pizza shop (~7 miles away) only has a few specials, and they're regular weekly things.

3.) Delivery. Yeah, that'd be nice. Nearest national pizza place is Pizza Hut. 10 miles away.

4.) Pay on pickup

5.) #3

6.) Good customer service

7.) Fridge or freezer even

8.) Never had heartburn

Exactly... that's what I was talking about - "a lot of pizzas". He said "unless you're ordering a lot of pizzas -- then you should pay full price, because you aren't *actually* paying full price, if you do.

Anybody can pretty much get those "deals". At least around here, schools aren't the only ones that use them. One of the deals I got was for a private party, and was a one-time order.
