MUST INFRARED MONITOR BE IN STARTUP FOLDER?

Hello Gurus,

Windows98SE software-type question. Built in working IR port. I notice that if Infrared Monitor (IRMON) is run at startup, IR works completely normal. Or I can boot without IRMON running at startup and double click Infrared Monitor in control panel, and everything is normal.

BUT, if I dare to boot without IRMON in the startup folder, AND my first action is to right-click and Send To Infrared Recipient, the system hangs and nothing happens. The only way to get the IR working again is to disable and reenable the Infrared Recipient icon in the C folder. Is it a natural consequence of the software that IRMON.exe has to be run at Startup if I need to immediately begin Infrared file transfer operations?

I'm not familiar with the program, but from your description, it sounds like the program has to be started before you can send to the infrared recipient.

The easy way to test this would be to start without it, click the executible program icon (.EXE file) and try to send. If that works, you can put a shortcut on your desktop or in your taskbar and start the program when you want to use it.
