Must have IPhone apps?

Just got a new Verizon iPhone 4s. First time iOS user, please teach me.

P.s. and malware protection?

I love music

Malware protection in the iPhone? I'm pretty sure nothing exists. Apps are really restricted from doing anything.

Don't need malware protection. Maybe if you Jailbreak it, but eh.

Shazam is definitely a good starter app - it listens to the song on the radio and tells you what it is. Spotify, MOG, and Google Music are great if you're into music.

Camera+ for doing photography. You can shoot, crop, do different effects.

Twitter, Facebook, etc. if you're into social networking.

Really depends on YOU - what do you like to do?

+1 for Angry Birds
Starbucks -- pay for your caffeine with your iPhone
Gmail -- their new app if you use Gmail and prefer to stay with webmail only
Navigon -- outstanding gps navigation

Lots of good apps on iPhone, just to name a few:

Google Voice
Google Earth
Skype
RedLaser
Fandango
Yelp
iFile

So far I'm in love with the games (dungeon hunter and hawk). But I'm still looking for a ventrilo client and it doesnt seem there is one 🙁. Oh wells.

Google Translate
Camera+
Flashlight
TeleNav GPS
Pandora
Slacker Radio
Shazam
Tiger Woods 12
Real Racing 1 & 2
Netflix
Google Earth
If you have Comcast- Xfinity TV
Epicurious

Mapquest's free app comes with voice guided navigation, so that takes care of the one glaring fault in the default maps app (and won't cost you an arm and a leg like some other GPS apps).

I second AVPlayer, worked great for me.

Air disk pro, it was on sale for .99. It allows for wireless drag n drop files.

Does it allow me to transfer files from my PC to my iPad and my iPad to my PC ? Does my PC need bluetooth? How fast is it with transferring files ?

Can the video files I transfer, or any files, be opened with my app of chose instead ?

Like for example my video files I prefer opening with AVPlayer. There a way to transfer files to AVPlayer over WiFi but it is to slow.

It allows drag n drop from PC to iDevice or iDevice to iDevice via wifi or bluetooth. The speed of file transfer is dependent on your wifi. The app supports a list of documents, images, and videos that can be viewed by the app, you'll have to look at the list.

The drag n drop is done through a browser or an FTP client. I use the FTP client.

If you travel, be sure to get the apps for the airlines and hotel companies that you use frequently. Sometimes they can be a real lifesaver. E.g. the American Airlines app lets you pull up your boarding pass on your phone (so no need to print it), has updated gate information, built-in terminal maps, etc.
